I went to the local botanical gardens last weekend and captured some photos I wanted to share with you. You may think, "why would you go to the gardens and shoot in black and white?". But one of the things I enjoy most is the geometric patterns, rule of thirds, and how everything... just fits. The limiting colors and shades magnify the structure of the plant and I find that so aesthetically pleasing.
Why is this so pleasing to the human eye? It's called the Fibonacci sequence. I'm sure you've heard of it before. I got that Fibonacci fever and the only cure is more. haha. Im sorry.
We can find this mathematical sequence not only in nature, but in music, finance, you know all the things that make this world go round.
When this sequence is repeated continuously it is often referred to as "The Golden Ratio". You can use this in tool in your photography to help create pleasing compositions and tell interesting stories. The division of space can really impact what the viewer focuses on and experiences.
For me personally these images convey a sense of stillness, order, and peace. which is something we all strive to feel in this chaotic world. i hope you can find a little corner of peace today.
